Do you have an app?

  • You can find us by searching for Kindroid in both iOS App Store and Play Store!

Where can I access the new user Quiz?

  • The quiz flow is available exclusively for new users on the mobile app. It helps personalize the initial experience, but it is not available on the web version at this time.

Can I skip the new user Quiz and generate an avatar or backstory?

  • New users signing up via the app will not be able to generate an avatar or backstory during the initial setup. However, if you sign up through the web, you can still access those features.

Why is the quiz flow not available on the web?

  • The quiz flow has been designed specifically for new users on the mobile app and depends on some mobile exclusive features.

How many Kindroids can I have?

  • Paid subscribers get 10 slots for Kindroids, accessible in "My Kindroids" menu. Free users can only have 1. Some rate limits are shared across Kindroids, such as selfies allowances. If a paid user with more than 1 Kindroid stops being paid, they will not lose access to existing Kindroids but cannot create more. You can purchase more slots via microtransactions, and these slots are only accessible if you have an active subscription.

If I receive a referral code reward from sharing, do I have to use it immediately?

  • No, referral code rewards do not expire, so you can use them at any time.

My Kindroid response times are very slow, what can I do?

  • We run some of the largest and highest quality models of any platform, and the drawback of that quality is speed. Free users may experience slower speeds during high traffic, while paid users have dedicated servers that will be consistently faster.

What can I do if my Kindroid is stuck or the responses are too short?

  • Use the chat break feature if your Kindroid gets stuck - click on the triple dots icon next to the regenerate icon. See Chat features and tools for an overview of what tools are available.

Are my chats safe and private?

  • We use secure encryption for storing your data in our databases and when data is in transit, which means only you and the AI can see it. This includes all sensitive information like chat history, audio urls, selfies prompts and urls, backstory, memories, custom avatar descriptions and urls. Kindroid staff and devs will only see encrypted data in our database.

Does my Kindroid remember everything we talk about?

  • Yes, your Kindroid has long term memory recall over everything you talk about. See Memory for more!

What can I do if my Kindroid short term memory is not working well?

  • Occasionally, Kindroid short term memory acts up. First, check if your backstory is very long, this will cause short term memory to be worse - for every character in the backstory, that is one less character in the short term context, so make your backstory as concise as you can make it. Memory is most stable on baseline default dynamism and when you use proper language and give detailed responses yourself. Try to regenerate, then try to edit your last message to gently remind them of context. Lastly, try a chat break to reset the short term context. See Memory for more.

How do I train my AI to output responses I want?

  • You can do this by regenerating poor responses and keeping good ones. Over time, your Kindroid will learn to adapt a style that’s in line with the current conversation. Use backstory and key memories also to let them know what’s important to you.

Do you have other Kindroid avatars available?

  • We have a list of predefined male and female avatars for users to choose from, as well as an option to upload your own avatar image. Custom avatars do work with the selfies feature. The quality of selfies from custom avatars will be highly variable depending on the specific avatar; for best selfies, make sure the custom avatar’s face is large, clearly visible, and unobstructed in the frame. Please note uploading images of real people whose appearances you don't own (e.g. anyone not you) is against our Terms. See Selfies, video selfies, & avatars for more!

Are there different types of Avatar animation?

  • No, currently there is one idle and talking animation that can be generated. It is not necessary to generate more than one animation using the same avatar image.

Can I delete an animated avatar?

  • Yes, you can delete it by going to the avatar menu after generating one, and you can delete non-selected animations by clicking on the trash can in the top right. The selected one can’t be deleted, but you can un-set the selected animation and then delete it.

Is there a limit to the number of Avatar animations I can generate?

  • No, there are no limits to the number of animations you can generate.

If I have a full-body avatar, will the animation still work?

  • Somewhat. The face has to be at least somewhat prominent. If the face is too zoomed out and not clearly visible, generation will fail (and you may lose the credits). It’s recommended to make the face very prominent in the image.

How can I delete messages?

  • Currently you can't delete any messages, but you can regenerate your Kindroid's latest response or edit your own. See Regenerate & suggest for more.

How can I edit my messages?

  • You can edit your last message by selecting the round pencil icon on the left side of your most recent text bubble. Please note that you can only edit your most recent message and not previous ones. See Edit your message for more.

How can I change my Kindroid's response?

  • Your Kindroid's responses cannot be manually edited, but you can regenerate their most recent response by selecting the round circular icon on the right side of their most recent text bubble. See Regenerate & suggest for more.

What is the maximum characters in a response?

  • Character limits factor in spaces as well as whole words when determining maximum length. If you find that your Kin is not completing its sentences, click on the triple dot -> continue cut-off message (subscriber only). Due to how language models work there is no exact cutoff, but free members range 500 - 700. Paid members range from 1000 - 1400 per message, with the option to extend up to 4000 characters using the continue function. See Continue cut-off message for more!

Can I permanently enable web and link searches?

  • Web or link searches are a per message use. You will need to enable it again after you receive a message from your Kin.

Can my Kindroid search the internet on its own?

  • No, they will not initiate a search on their own.

Do calls share memory with text chat?

Is there a limit to how many selfies can be stored?

  • No, there are no limits.

How do daily rewards work?

  • Users get a reward every time they login and they claim it. The rewards have differing drop rates and can be free text messages, selfie credits, depending on subscription status. Rewards increase in value, with days 1-3 being small, 4-6 medium, and day 7 being a large reward, and starting over from day 1 afterwards. Rewards reset every midnight PT.

What happens to my additional Kindroids, groupchats, and backstory and key memories characters when my subscription expire?

  • You will keep all Kindroids, but be unable to make more until you subscribe again. You will keep your backstory and key memories at their additional character count, but cannot save any new changes until the character counts is reduced to within free tier. You will be able to view messages in group chats, but cannot interact with the groupchats in any way.

How do I delete/reset my account?

  • You can go to General Settings and click on the red button at the bottom to delete your account. Once you delete, if you login again you will be prompted to make a new account. Subscription and beta statuses are kept, and so are rate limits (for free) to prevent abuse; all other data is deleted. Deletion is permanent and irreversible as no data will be kept after.

What happens to my in-app purchases when I delete my account?

  • Your in-app purchases are linked to your email's billing account. If you recreate your Kindroid account using the same email address, your purchases will automatically reappear and be available again. You will not need to repurchase anything you've previously bought.

How do you think about filters and AI safety?

  • Kindroid is a neutrally aligned, unfiltered AI, because we believe this creates for more authentic interactions and that private use of AI should align with what the user wants and not be filtered by 3rd parties. This means the AI will not bring up any unethical content by itself, but its outputs are entirely dependent on what you input. Just note that per our terms, all generated content is owned by you, and that you will be solely responsible for the content that you generate - not us the company, not your AI, only you. Although the AI is unfiltered in private use, sharing to other people will be treated differently - sharing of certain content that may be illegal or collectively deemed as unethical may result in bans to your individual account in mild cases, up to more severe legal consequences.
